What is a parabolic screen?
A parabolic screen is a static, low-maintenance filter used to separate solids from liquids – all without the need for moving parts. At the heart of the design is a curved screen surface made up of wedge wires, positioned at an angle of about 60 degrees. As water flows over the screen, solids like fibers, granules or organic matter get caught on the surface and slide down by gravity into a collection tray. The liquid continues on, passing through the narrow slots between the wires.
This type of screen was originally used for dry material separation in the mining industry, but over time, its simplicity and reliability made it a go-to solution for water and process filtration across a wide range of sectors.
For heavier or stickier material, additional features can be added – such as a vibrating motor, spray nozzles, or a brush to help keep the screen clear. The entire unit is made from stainless steel (typically SS304), offering excellent durability and long-term performance.
