Self-cleaning liquid filters

In industrial systems where fluids are processed, uninterrupted filtration is essential. Self-cleaning liquid filters offer a reliable and low-maintenance solution. These filters automatically remove solids and contaminants without stopping the process, preventing clogging and downtime. As a result, equipment lasts longer and the system maintains a consistent flow – even under high dirt loads or during fine filtration.

Below are three filter types, each with its own specific design and use case.

Self-cleaning liquid filters

SCF – Automatic Self-cleaning Liquid Filter

The SCF filter is designed for situations where continuous, reliable filtration is required. Liquid flows from the inside out through a cylindrical screen. As dirt accumulates on the inside, the system monitors the pressure drop. When a set value is reached, a cleaning cycle starts automatically.

During this short cycle, internal spray nozzles clean the filter element using a rotating and axial movement – all without interrupting the liquid flow. The SCF is suitable for process water, cooling systems, nozzle protection and other industrial applications. It handles filtration ranges from 15 to 3000 microns, and offers high capacity in a compact design.

Thanks to its fully automatic function and sturdy stainless steel housing, the SCF requires minimal maintenance and offers a fast return on investment.

HL-SCF – High Dirt Load Liquid Filter

The HL-SCF is built for processes with very high concentrations of solid contamination. It combines a coarse pre-filter with a fine screen and features a smart cleaning system. Every few seconds, rotating nozzles clean the screen from both sides using a continuous backflush, powered by filtered water and jet pressure.

The HL-SCF operates without stopping the process and provides 100% screen cleaning, even after millions of cycles. This makes it ideal for:

  • Wastewater and irrigation reuse
  • Drinking water (removal of algae, zooplankton, worms)
  • Cooling water intake
  • Steel, paper and plastic industries
  • Sugar production and seawater filtration

The cleaning cycle lasts only 3 to 5 seconds and the system can operate at low pressure while maintaining a steady flow.

MFF – Micro Filter for Fine Filtration

The MFF is a self-cleaning filter system that removes extremely fine particles down to 0.5 micron. It uses rotating filter rolls fitted with multi-layer cassettes made of polyester fiber. When a certain pressure drop is reached, a high-pressure flush cycle starts. During this brief pause, water jets clean the fibers without the need for replacement filters.

The MFF is especially useful for polishing wastewater, pre-filtration of RO membranes, and removing heavy metals, cysts, or bacteria such as cryptosporidium and legionella. Thanks to its modular setup, the system can easily be scaled up to suit different capacities.

No filter media is consumed, and the system is designed for quick maintenance with minimal downtime.
